Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides advice to the relevant Businesses on a broad spectrum of legal issues, using independent analysis with some initial supervision, including but not limited to:
o Staying updated on developments relating Regulatory
Compliance Matters in China and communicate relevant developments, asappropriate and with the guidance of the Senior Associate Director, Regulatory Compliance, to the relevant Businesses;
o Acting as the Legal Approver in Emerson's Checkpoint 2.0
program for appointed sites and assisting in program
development and improvement;
o Assisting in the development and giving training to Emerson employees relating to applicable regulations and materialchanges thereto;
o Assisting Emerson businesses in China in developing and implementing compliance procedures in accordance with company guidelines and conducting reviews to ensure required procedures are implemented
and working;
o Serving as the company’s primary legal
counsel and subject matter expert on various laws and regulations in China relevant to Regulatory Compliance Matters including but not limited to: (i) Personal
Information Protection Law; (ii) Cybersecurity Law; (iii) Data Security Law; (iv) China RoHS, China REACH; and (v) Anti-Unfair Competition Law ; and,
o Managing significant inquiries from various parties or regulatory bodies, including investigations, subpoenas, and audits.
- Works cooperatively with Emerson Law Department colleagues and outside counsel on routine and assigned legal matters to ensure compliance with Emerson policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements;
- Keeps management of the supported Businesses and the Law Department fully advised of all significant developments
concerning all material matters in a timely fashion;
- Exercises good professional judgment, acts with integrity, and drives results at all times to protect and enhance the
image and reputation of Emerson and the Law Department;
- Supports the Legal team in:
o Implementing corporate policies throughout
all applicable Businesses; and
o Strategic projects in different areas (e.g. implementation of various legislation, applicable new directives, andregulations).
- Assists in the management of the post-acquisition legal integration process of newly acquired companies in China with regard to Regulatory Compliance Matters; and,
- Cooperates in and proactively contributes to direction of various strategic initiatives of the Legal team, and with other
tasks as assigned.
Pre-requisite Knowledge and Skills:
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience in a commercial and international field (in-house or private practice)
- Experience in provision of advice on Regulatory Compliance Matters
- Licensed to practice law in China
- Comfortable working with senior management
- Intermediate MS Office skills
- Excellent oral and written English and Chinese language skills
- Openness to travel
