l Core Skills Required

•Extensive experience in developing and delivering automotive electronic products or other equivalent experience

•Degree in Electronics or alternative technical qualifications

•Experience of microcontroller based electronics projects (automotive preferred)

•Strong, applied skills in Electronic hardware design.

•Previous experience in validation and debug of electronics hardware at component level using standard equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, waveform generators, spectrum analyser etc.)

•Must be able to examine a proposed circuit design and PCB layout, and identify potential issues which may affect reliability, robustness and EMC.

•Must have excellent interpersonal skills and can clearly articulate technical issues to all levels Must have high levels of integrity and self-discipline, to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner.

•Basic knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, Spice etc.)

•A knowledge of automotive vehicle networks

•Experience of developing high volume products from concept to production

•Key practitioner in problem solving techniques (eg: six-sigma)

•Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA

•Have a good understanding of most of the following: Power supply topologies, interfacing to microcontrollers, power switching, analogue design, digital circuits, EMC, stability analysis, vehicle network hardware, RF design, vehicle traction electronics, IGBTs.

l Electronics Technical Subject Matter Expert with an understanding of automotive electronic design principles and able to clearly communicate and review vehicle module hardware designs.

l Responsible for detecting error states and working with component teams and suppliers to ensure design robustness and compliances to global top brand automotive OEM standards.

l Clear communication with Programme Teams, global top brand automotive OEM engineers and suppliers to ensure that GRADE design reviews are delivered robustly prior to given design freeze points

l Act as technical subject matter expert for component engineers developing electronic devices.

l Facilitating their understanding and application of the requirements in the GRADE and Electronic Environmental standards.

l Conduct GRADE design reviews using global top brand automotive OEM Electronics Design guidelines (GRADE) ensuring the correct design requirements have been met by the supplier. This will include environmental, packaging, interfaces and design for manufacture factors.

l To be able to review schematics, PCB layouts, technical data sheets and design calculation.

l Understanding of high volume, high reliability of PCB manufacture and assembly processes.

l Provide technical leadership to troubleshoot component and system issues.

l Help upskill and promote good electronic design skills around component areas
