Project Manager – R&D Project Management

Job Summary

The project manager plays a critical role in driving the successful development and delivery of POS terminal products, from concept to market. This position requires strong leadership and project management capabilities, guiding cross-functional teams through all phases of product development while ensuring alignment with business goals and market demands. The project manager is responsible for delivering products, managing product support in lifecycle and ensuring compliance with industry standards and certifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management within the POS terminal industry, strong technical acumen, and a proven ability to bring complex products to market.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product delivery based on strategy & roadmap definition

• Work closely with stakeholders to develop a clear vision of product requirement definition from a technology angle. Aligned technology with market needs and business goals through pre-study.

• Understand product roadmap and development priorities.

2. Cross-functional Project Leadership

• Lead cross-functional project team members through all stages of product development, ensuring successful collaboration and communication.

• Plan, coordinate, and execute product development projects within established timelines, ensuring milestones are met and adjusting the roadmap as necessary by applying IPD process.

• Serve as the key point of contact to stakeholders, including senior leadership.

3. Product Development management

• Work closely with the engineering team to define product specifications, ensure technical feasibility, and validate the quality of hardware and software components.

• Manage prototype development, testing, and refinement, ensuring products are market-ready before mass production.

• Facilitate product testing and ensure continual improvement and refinement of the product based on feedback.

• Monitor and assess the performance of launched products, adjusting the strategy as necessary to optimize outcomes.

4. Product Lifecycle Support

• Oversee the entire product lifecycle, ensuring continuous innovation and updates that keep the product competitive in the market.

• Optimize product costs by collaborating with supply chain and manufacturing teams, ensuring cost-effective production without compromising quality.

• Ensure that all products comply with relevant industry standards and certifications (e.g., EMV, PCI DSS) and meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

• 5+ Years of Experience in product management, project management, or product development within the POS terminal industry or a related field.

• Proven track record of successfully bringing new products from concept to market in a technology-driven environment.

• Experience in an international context strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the POS terminal industry, including market trends, competitive landscape, and key technologies (e.g., NFC, EMV, contactless payments, etc.).

• Project Management: Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex, cross-functional teams and managing multiple product development cycles simultaneously.

• Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of hardware and software development, particularly in the areas of embedded systems, IoT, or payment technology.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to solve complex product challenges with creativity and pragmatism.

• Communication & Leadership: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and guide teams to success.

• Passion for learning and continuous improvement with sound knowledge of industry and technology best practices for Software, Security, Risk, Management & Compliance in the operations, support and service delivery context.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of IPD process.

• Certifications in PMP, Agile, or similar project management methodologies.

• Experience with international product development and launch strategies.

• Familiarity with global payment standards and certifications.
