The Senior New Product Development Engineer will participate in the new product development process for service. This position will use the design for service principles to ensure that safety, serviceability, and service business goals are met. The position will collaborate with global technical leads to ensure consistency in execution and service readiness for new product release and launch. The candidate will participate in service strategy review and report program updates to service leadership team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Projects
- Represent Vertiv Services in new product development design reviews, product reviews, and phase gate reviews.
- Support regional team members in global product offering projects to ensure regional readiness and launch.
- Collect required gate deliverables to support project readiness and project completion in the new product development process.
- Interface with global engineering and global product management to implement the Global Serviceability Specification in new products.
- Assist in the design and testing of new products to ensure service objects and readiness are completed in new product launches.
- Develop source material for beta training classes.
- Develop maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for the new products
- Attend Beta startups and first article startups.
- Monitor new product quality.
- Track initial startups and provide feedback to engineering and product management.
- Collect service lessons learned of project to implement into future product changes.
- Provide feedback and document creation on new product development forms,
- Act as the Vertiv Services representative on the engineering change control board for the product you represent.
• Administration
- Submit expense reports, trip reports, and timecards accurately and on time.
- Represent service and present at new products tollgate review meetings and provide updates to management
• Organizational Readiness
- Attend new product and self-development training classes.
- Document new tooling or test equipment requirements.
- Train PTS and first classes of CEs on new products.
- Lead documentation and TKO development for new products.
- Develop startup and PM forms for new products.
- Provide technical guidance to Marketing in development of Scope of Work documents, and new services
- Stay familiar with new products/environments that may affect product operation to include new revisions, updates, upgrades, etc.
Requirements:
• Minimum of four years technical degree from an accredited educational institution or equivalent training and experience.
• Minimum of three years of field service and two years’ experience as a Technical Support Engineer.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate and present material to Executive Management.
• Possess a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
• Detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Proficient PC skills including all Microsoft Office products and web-based technologies.
