Job Description:
The successful candidate will bring to the Company a diverse experience and expertise
with a deep knowledge of drug discovery research and development, along with a
substantial set of pharmaceutical industry business contacts to build a robust business
channel. The candidate will be responsible for identifying, originating, and pursuing
business opportunities, managing activities related to the search, evaluation and
contracting of new partnering opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotechnology and
other external partners.
Responsibilities:
1. Develops business development organizational strategies by contributing
information, analysis, and recommendations to functional strategic thinking and
direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
2. Internally leverages the extensive cross-functional capabilities of the company’s
scientific leadership, drug discovery and development capabilities, resources to
refine and deliver executed contracts.
3. Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners;
discovering and exploring opportunities.
4. Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal
requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal
priorities; recommending equity investments.
5. Drives partner outreach through multiple channels including partnering events,
prepare and present materials for high quality external interactions, and lead
internal cross-functional evaluation of opportunities.
6. Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new
venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials;
estimating partners' needs and goals.
7. Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and
negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business
operations.
Requirements:
1. A minimum of 7-10 years experiences in pharmaceutical industry with roles in
business development
2. Proven business development track record in targeting pharmaceutical
institutions to lead the full partnering spectrum.
3. A deep understanding and experience partnering on preclinical and/or clinical
stage related products is critical.
4. Knowledge of the research and development business processes with
background in molecular biology or medicine.
5. Exceptional business and interpersonal skills. Ability to prepare clear materials
such as documents, presentations, and other communication tools.
6. Highly organized and extensively leveraged as the selected incumbent assesses
client requirements and drives internal efforts to match the Company
capabilities responsive to those requirements.
7. A professional outward and attitude, with superior oral/written communication
skills, including strong negotiation skills.
8. MBA and/or MD or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
